How to register for classes online

Have you ever stood in long lines to register for class or experienced busy signals when trying to call by phone? Well there is a third way to register... online registration using the Polaris system.

Once in the Polaris system, you need to go to the registration button on the task selection menu. Now sometimes more than one term may appear next to this button and you need to select the term you need to register for.

In that case, you would click in the radio button to indicate the term you desire. Then click on the registration button and a screen will appear that will let you register for your classes. If you are not sure about key codes and classes that you want to sign up for, scroll down to the bottom and click on the registration selection listing and you will get a search engine allowing you to search for the classes that you want. Otherwise, lets look at the screen and what appears here.

If you have registered for any classes, they will appear here with all the information about the class. The student has not registered for any classes so we don't see anything yet. The term you are registering for will appear here and a time you that may register starts here. Notice this student may register on 10/26 at 9 am. The clock here will be a 24-hour clock. To register for a class you need to enter a key code in one of these boxes and you can enter up top five key codes at a time.

Today, lets register for this class with key code 2474. Next, we need to click on "Add These Courses" and the system will check to be sure that this class is open. We are lucky today because this class is open. Notice that we have all of the information on this class plus it indicates in this message that registration is complete. We are now registered for three credits, which agrees with the number of credits that we signed up for up here.

Now, if you decide that you want to drop this class, the procedure is almost the same. Again, you enter your key code but this time you click on "drop these courses". The computer will go through and drop the class and again give an error message. It says that the dropped class(es) will not appear here and again it says registration is completed.

Be sure and pay attention to the next lesson on error messages that may occur while registering for classes.
